From junior Eurovision song contest to the headliner of Lowlands
Oscar and the Wolf is an electronic pop music performance-based in Ghent, Belgium, centered around singer Max Colombie. The band gained international fame with its first album Entity, released in April 2014. The album was certified double platinum in Belgium and includes the well-known singles Princes and Strange Entity.
When asked about the name of the band in 2014, singer Max Colombie said, "I sang the moon. Then the wolf is a land animal that roams at night, and Oscar is a creature of the day. It can be said that those are my two entities. Day and night. Light and darkness! "Why is it called Oscar? "Oscar is a name I really like - it's poetic and relaxing," Colombie said. "I believe everyone has a lot of spirits. Oscar and wolf are two for me personally. I currently have a wolf with me, but it will only appear on stage. When you're standing there, you have to grab whatever. How you enter a character, whether it's your own thing, is not important, in my case it's not being played, it's a part of myself that I have magnified."Oscar and the Wolf were formed in 2010 around lead singer Max Colombie.
He was previously known for his participation in the qualifiers of the
Children's European Song 2005. The band released two EPs on the record label
[PIAS] and played some with Orange Sky in 2013, but it didn't really cause a
sensation until April 2014. The release of the first album "Entity"
also marked a significant change in sound. This album featured the breakthrough
song Princes, as well as the songs Undress and Strange Entity. The album was
named the best Belgian debut album of 2014 by Cutting Edge.
