Can we finally go to festivals in the summer of 2021?

In March 2020, the terrible virus corona entered our lives. It pretty much shut down all industries. The music world was hit hard as well. All planned concerts and festivals were canceled or rescheduled. Now, more than 1.5 years later, it is still not certain whether we will be able to enjoy our favorite artists again this summer. Fortunately, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Vaccination in Europe is going well and on schedule for now. It is very important that as many people as possible are vaccinated so that we can get back to "normal" as soon as possible. According to Minister Hugo de Jonge, everyone in the Netherlands had their first shot on 1 July. This could make it possible to give festivals and concerts the green light and allow them to go ahead.


In recent months, several tests have been conducted by Fieldlab. Think of festivals where people do not have to keep a 1.5-meter distance and do not have to wear a mouth mask. The outcome of these tests is promising for this summer. According to the government, from 30 June onwards, festivals may again go ahead without any measures. However, everyone must have tested negative beforehand.

This is very good news for my favorite festival Lowlands which takes place from August 17 to August 20. During this weekend festival more than 50,000 people come and play artists from all over the world. Lowlands has also announced the first names for next summer. The Chemical Brothers, Liam Gallagher and Balthazar are among those names.

The big question now is whether the virus is holding its own and a new wave is not on the way. The government will decide on June 22 whether the steps can go ahead. What do you think? Will we be able to go completely crazy again at your favorite festival this summer?

My best festival experience ever

It was a hot summer in 2019 and me and my friends had just returned from a week in Dublin. We were all set for our next adventure and headed to Lowlands in Biddinghuizen. Lowlands is a festival that has been around since 1993 taking place every year. The festival is the second largest festival in the Netherlands after Pinkpop. Every year, reformed names also come to the polder to perform. Lowlands has a wide range of music, science, and theater. The festival also does as much as possible to give the visitors the time of their lives. So I went to Lowlands for the first time in 2019 with my group of friends. I was snug in a tent together, all the space for myself.  We started the trip by coming to Biddinghuizen. This was hell, standing in line for hours and searching for a spot in the heat. Music by Sjors week 1

Hello there! Here is my first weekly music update! Today we are going to review 3 artists who have released new music this week. These are singles and full albums. The artists I am going to discuss this week are Douwe Bob, Royal Blood and Foxlane. Starting with Douwe Bob. His new Album "Born To Win, Born To Lose" was released last Friday 28 May. With this album Douwe goes a bit "back-to-basic". He goes more in the country direction with this album. Together with my father, I can enjoy this enormously. My favorite song of this new album is "Amsterdam". The thirteen song album receives 8 out of 10 stars from me. Definitely a must listen. On with the new Royal Blood album. The album is called "Typhoons" and this album is again a typical Royal Blood album. the two band members let their own sound fully come back in this new one.
